The Recognition Roadtrip Bottle enjoys the Janis Joplin Mural at the Ben J. Rogers Regional Visitor’s Center. Designed by artist Kimberly Brown, the mural pays tribute to the famous rock and blues artist hailing from Beaumont’s neighboring city, Port Arthur, Texas.
Beaumont heroes take the Recognition Roadtrip Bottle on a trip through time at the Rogers Regional Visitor’s Center. The members of the Rogers family are well-known philanthropists across Beaumont and have contributed to several initiatives across the city, including parks, healthcare and the Gateway Shopping Center and Parkdale Mall.
The Recognition Roadtrip Bottle goes for a drive in a vintage 1949 TC MG, a gift from the Rogers family to the Visitor’s Center. The 1949 TC MG was a British car, which many U.S. servicemembers bought in Europe and transferred back to the U.S. after World War II.
Beaumont heroes take the Recognition Roadtrip Bottle back to Spindletop on Jan. 19, 2022, where the city’s oil fame began. Historians say the first gusher explosion on Spindletop was so intense that even after nine days, the oil column was still nearly 200 feet high!
